Reflection IT also develops apps and games. We do this not only because it's fun, but also because it is very educational. Through these apps, we can try out new Microsoft products and technologies. For example, we can apply the latest Visual Studio, C#, XAML (WPF, UWP, WinUI, MAUI), ASP.NET (MVC, Web API, Blazor, SignalR, gRPC), Databases (SQL Server, Entity Framework Core), Design Patterns, and Unit Testing features. This knowledge is then used in our training sessions.
Our Journey
Our first Windows desktop apps (Sudoku and Minesweeper) were developed in 2008 using WPF and Silverlight. Later, we ported them to the Windows Phone platform. Our Sudoku app was the first app from the Netherlands in the Windows Marketplace, which makes us proud. After that, we successfully released over 20 other apps and games. Unfortunately, Windows Phone was discontinued, and these apps are no longer available.
Starting in 2012, we began developing Windows 8 apps. At that time, our Sudoku Free app was also the first app from the Netherlands in the Windows Store. Since 2015, we have been using the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and WinUI for our Windows 10 and 11 apps. The Windows Store has since been renamed to the Microsoft Store. Nowadays, we also create apps for non-Windows devices (Android, Apple iOS, Web) using .NET MAUI Blazor Hybrid and the Uno Platform.
All our apps and games combined have been downloaded more than 5 million times. They are used/played daily by more than 25,000 users, amounting to thousands of hours of usage per day. Our games often include advertising banners, generating additional revenue. This ensures it is worthwhile to invest significant time in developing new and existing apps. And so, our journey continues.
